1.Our approach

Serivore is made by one person, and it aims to follow Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines on accessibility: use the system’s controls, colours and text styles wherever possible, so that every assistive feature built into iOS keeps working without the app having to reinvent it. This page says what works today, what does not yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way. It is updated with each release that changes the picture.

2.Vision

VoiceOver. Your library, show and episode pages, the feed, profiles and Settings can be read and navigated with VoiceOver. Most buttons that show only an icon carry a spoken label, and purely decorative images are skipped. Two controls do not yet announce themselves properly: the star rating and the “mark as watched” buttons in an episode list. Both are on the roadmap (see section 6). In the meantime, an episode can be marked as watched from its own page, where the button is labelled.

Dark and light mode. By default, Serivore follows the appearance set in iOS. Settings › Appearance lets you force Dark or Light regardless of the system, for example to keep a dark screen at night while the rest of your phone switches.

Text size. Almost all text in the app uses Apple’s text styles, so it grows and shrinks with the size you set in iOS Settings › Accessibility › Display & Text Size, including the larger accessibility sizes. A few figures — badge medals, the numbers on the Stats screen — still use a fixed size, and some single-line labels are truncated rather than wrapped at the largest sizes. Both are being addressed.

Colour. Watched episodes are shown with a check mark, ratings with stars and numbers, reactions with their emoji: state is never carried by a colour alone.

3.Motion

Serivore has a few animations: badges unlock with a short celebration, medals turn on their detail page, and lists shimmer while they load. Today these animations do not yet respect Reduce Motion in iOS Settings. This is the first item of section 6. Until then, if animation is a problem for you, the badge celebration can be closed with a tap at any moment.

4.Hearing

Serivore contains no audio and no video, so nothing in the app depends on sound. Actions such as marking an episode, rating it or unlocking a badge are confirmed on screen and, if your iPhone allows it, with a light haptic tap — never with a sound only. Notifications use the standard iOS alert, which follows your sound, vibration and Flash for Alerts settings.

5.Motor and cognitive

Voice Control, Switch Control, AssistiveTouch, Full Keyboard Access. Because the app uses standard buttons, lists and toggles, these iOS features work throughout, with the same exception as VoiceOver: the star rating control. Nothing in the app requires a gesture with a time limit or more than one finger.

Reading comfort. Comments on an episode you have not watched yet sit behind a spoiler warning, and comments their authors flag as spoilers are marked as such. Release reminders can be switched off one kind at a time, and a single show can be muted from its page, so the app never has to be noisier than you want.

Languages. The app is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese and Korean, and follows the language order set in iOS.

6.Known limitations and what comes next

These are tracked publicly and worked on in this order:

• Reduce Motion is not honoured yet: badge celebrations, the medal animation and the loading shimmer keep moving when it is on.
• The star rating and the “mark as watched” buttons in episode lists are not usable with VoiceOver or Switch Control.
• Some text sizes are fixed and some labels are cut short at the largest Dynamic Type sizes.

7.This website

The pages on serivore.app are plain HTML without scripts, work with screen readers and browser zoom, and follow your system’s dark or light setting. The web app at web.serivore.app uses the same account as the iPhone app.

8.Tell us

If a feature of the app is hard or impossible to use with the assistive technology you rely on, please write to contact@serivore.app with “Accessibility” in the subject, and tell us which feature, which iOS setting or assistive technology, and your iOS and app versions (Settings, at the bottom of the screen). Accessibility reports are treated as bugs, not as suggestions: they go to the front of the queue.

Serivore requires an iPhone with iOS 18.6 or later.
