A BetaSeries alternative for your TV shows
You've been using BetaSeries for years. Your shows are there, your history is there, and you know where everything is. Maybe you want a different app on your iPhone, or you're just curious about what else exists. Here's an honest look at Serivore as an alternative, including what it can't do, so you can decide before investing any time.
Which BetaSeries alternative?
Before choosing an app to track your shows, five questions matter more than any feature list:
- Do you track movies? If so, you need an app that does both. Serivore tracks TV shows only.
- Which phone do you use? Serivore is available on iPhone and on the web (web.serivore.app). There is no Android app.
- Can you bring your history? See below: it depends on where your history is today.
- Is it in your language? Serivore is translated into 14 languages, including French, and shows titles and summaries in your language when TheTVDB has them.
- Will your friends be there? Following friends, sharing lists and discussing episodes only matter if people you know use the same app.
What BetaSeries does that Serivore doesn't
- Movies. BetaSeries tracks films as well as shows. Serivore doesn't track movies.
- Android. BetaSeries has an Android app. Serivore runs on iPhone and on the web.
- A long-established community. BetaSeries has been around for a long time and has a large French-speaking community. Serivore's community is newer.
If any of these matters to you, BetaSeries may simply remain the better fit, and that's fine.
What you'll find in Serivore
- A home screen built around the next episode. What you're watching, what's airing soon, what you've fallen behind on, and the shows you haven't started yet.
- Every watch with its date. Rewatches are kept as separate viewings, each with its own date.
- Ratings per episode and per show, with half stars if you want them, plus averages and a chart of each show's episode ratings.
- Reactions and spoiler-free discussions. React to an episode with an emoji, comment with spoilers hidden until tapped, reply, add a GIF, translate a comment.
- "My favorite was…" Vote for your favorite character in each episode.
- Lists. Public or private, ranked, and collaborative: build a list together with friends.
- Stats and badges. Watch time, streaks, genres, networks, favorite actors, and how you compare with the people you follow.
- Where to watch in your region (streaming, rent, buy), with data from JustWatch.
- Notifications for new episodes and new seasons, which you can mute show by show.
- Free, with no subscription and no in-app purchase.
Can I import my BetaSeries history?
Not directly: Serivore has no dedicated BetaSeries import today. Here's what you can do instead:
- If you can get a CSV file listing your episodes (show, season, episode, and ideally the date watched), Serivore can import it: Settings → Import my library → Simple CSV file. The columns are recognized automatically from their headers, and shows are matched by title, so check the summary at the end for any show that wasn't found.
- Otherwise, catching up by hand is quicker than it sounds. Add your shows and mark a whole season, or everything up to a given episode, as watched in one go. You lose the exact watch dates, but your progress is right from day one.
- If you also used TV Time and kept the data export you requested before it shut down, that export can be imported completely, with dates. See how to import your TV Time history.
Is Serivore available in French?
Yes. The app is fully translated into French, as well as 13 other languages. Episode titles and summaries come from TheTVDB and appear in French when a translation exists; otherwise they're shown in English.
What about TV Time?
TV Time has shut down. If you used it too, our Serivore vs TV Time comparison covers what it offered, where it was ahead, and what Serivore does instead.
