Serivore vs TV Time
TV Time has shut down. If you used it to track your shows, you probably built up years of history there: every episode, every rewatch, every reaction. Moving to another app only makes sense if you keep as much of that as possible, and if the new app actually fits the way you watch. This page compares what TV Time offered with what Serivore offers today, including the places where TV Time was ahead.
TV Time or Serivore? The short answer
TV Time is no longer available, so the real question is whether Serivore is the right replacement for you.
- It may not be if you track movies as well as TV shows, or if you're on Android. Serivore is built for TV shows only, and it runs on iPhone and on the web at web.serivore.app.
- It probably is if you mostly follow TV shows on an iPhone and want an app built around the episode: dated watches, ratings, reactions, discussions and lists. If you kept your TV Time data export, your history comes with you: the import replays it with the original dates, so your stats and progress pick up where you left off.
What Serivore shares with TV Time
Like TV Time, Serivore lets you mark episodes as watched, see what's airing next, get a notification when a new episode or a new season comes out, react to episodes, discuss them with other viewers and follow your friends. If that's what you used TV Time for, you'll find your bearings quickly; the differences are in the details below.
Where TV Time was ahead
- Movies. TV Time tracked films. Serivore doesn't, and the import skips movie entries.
- Android. TV Time had an Android app. Serivore is available on iPhone, and on the web for any other device.
- iPad and widgets. Serivore has no iPad version and no home-screen widgets yet.
- An established community. TV Time had a large community built over many years, so popular episodes had a lot of discussion. Serivore's community is newer.
Where Serivore does things differently
- Every watch keeps its date. Rewatches aren't merged into a single checkmark: each viewing is recorded with its date, and your history shows them all.
- Ratings per episode and per show. Five stars, with half stars if you want them. Each show gets an average, a distribution, and a chart of how its episodes were rated.
- Discussions without spoilers. Comments can be marked as spoilers and stay hidden until you tap them. You can reply, add a GIF or an image, and translate a comment written in another language.
- "My favorite was…" After an episode, vote for your favorite character and see how other viewers voted.
- Lists you can share or build together. Public or private, ranked or not, and collaborative: invite friends to add shows to the same list.
- Detailed stats. Time spent watching, streaks, when you watch during the day and the week, your genres, networks and most-watched actors, and how your watch time compares with the people you follow.
- Where to watch. Streaming, rental and purchase options for your region, with data from JustWatch.
- Offline. Changes you make without a connection are saved and synced as soon as you're back online.
- 14 languages. The app is translated into 14 languages, and show titles and summaries appear in your language when TheTVDB has them (otherwise in English).
- Free. No subscription and no in-app purchase.
How to move your TV Time history to Serivore
TV Time no longer accepts data requests. But if you requested your data export before it shut down and still have the zip file TV Time sent you, Serivore can read it directly:
- In the Files app on your iPhone, long-press the zip and choose Uncompress.
- In Serivore, open Settings → Import my library → TV Time folder (complete export), and select the folder.
Serivore brings over every watch with its exact date (rewatches included), your episode ratings, favorites, watchlist, emoji reactions, comments, favorite-character votes and custom lists. Two things don't come over: movies, and the ratings you gave whole shows in TV Time (episode ratings do). The step-by-step import guide covers everything in detail.
No export? You can still catch up quickly
If you never requested your TV Time data, the history itself is gone, but your progress doesn't have to be. Add your shows and mark a whole season, or everything up to a given episode, as watched in one go. You won't get the original dates back, but your library is right from day one, and your new watches are dated from then on.
Coming from BetaSeries instead?
